Our Story

Sam’s Story

Throwback to almost 4 years ago when I was asked to be part of a video for ‘dads’ info’ about my addictions.
Who knew then how a couple of years down the line my life would have dramatically changed in a direction no one could ever imagine!
I’m only human, like everybody else, and I’ve had my slip ups but its only made me stronger and given me the drive to push further.
I’m so blessed to be in the position I am and the people I have around me who see the same visions and directions to where everything is going.
I thank God and my faith for the success of everything that’s happened in my life an Ill continue to share my story and help as many people that come my way.
Dream bigger than your dreams, have faith and you will be guided to achieve the unimaginable.

Hailsham Boxing Club

Taking inspiration from his childhood coach Rab Bannon, Sam founded Hailsham Boxing Club to give back to the local community.

Sam grew up on the outskirts of Glasgow in an area with high crime. When he was young, he started boxing at a local club run by Rab. Boxing taught him focus and discipline, as well as keeping him off the streets and out of trouble. Training hard benefited Sam physically, as well as mentally, and he progressed well, winning matches, and becoming Scottish Junior Champion.

Fast forward a few years and after a few wrong turns and overcoming addiction, Sam started free boxing training in a field in Eastbourne during lockdown to help people through this tough time. Bags were hung on trees and training sessions were held outside in all weather. As the nights got darker the club needed a building and ‘The Warehouse’ in Hailsham was secured.

With Sam’s faith, vision and unstoppable determination to help others, the club has gone from strength to strength. Supported by the volunteers and local businesses Hailsham Boxing Club is now able to offer a variety of training sessions, outreach programmes, events and challenges.
